FAQ's

What is CNC routing

CNC routing is the cutting, shaping, drilling, milling, and surfacing of materials using a computer controlled router or milling machine.

If you imagine a plotter with a black & decker router attached but weighing 8 Tonnes and instead of printing on paper: You can have a sheet of Plywood, MDF, wood, Plastic, 10' x 5' up to 4inches thick (3050mm x 1525mm x 100mm) cut, shaped, moulded with patterned router cutters, drilled, surfaced, contoured etc.

Some times we are able to mill up to 10 inches (250mm ) depth in model foam.

What can cnc routing do for you

CNC routing opens up a world of opportunities for yourself or your clients. You can turn your dreams into reality...

You design, we machine,

Desk tops, doors, shelves, display cabinets, speakers, brackets, cabinets, office furniture, domestic furniture. built in units, grilles, fretted panels, decorative panels, GRP moulds, jigs, templates, construction ribs, 3D solid maps,

Just send an e-mail or fax with a rough sketch and we will tell you if is practicable.

What information do we need for cnc routing your panels

CAD files are the ideal way to send us your jobs and enquiries.

Simple curves, rectangles, etc are fine by Fax or drawings.

It's better to get a rough sketch (with hole quantities and hole sizes) to us sooner than a fine drawing later.

Is our order to small

No official minimum order, but minimum cost with programming and setup for a single small part approx £25.00, a second or third part may be included in the price.

Don't think your job is to small.

We very often machine single panels, templates, jigs etc.

Is this service expensive

No it is very economic.

Our routing service charges are based on time, and with over 12 years of CNC routing experience behind us our setup and programming time is second to none, making real savings on short and long runs.

We think you may be surprised.

What does CNC stand for

CNC stands for computer numerically controlled.

What is CAD

CAD stands for Computer aided design

What is CAM

CAM stands for Computer aided machines.

Why do we like CAD files

When we load your CAD files onto a PC we are halfway to having the program written for our routers.

E-mailing or sending CAD files enable us to machine direct from your work files, saving time and money.

What is the smallest cutter we use

The smaller the cutter the more chance there is of breaking the cutter so we have to slow the cutting speed, and this can impact on price.

A good compromise seems to be 6.35mm dia and we can go up to 18mm in thickness in MDF & plywood.

4.7mm Cutters can be used for board up to 9mm but the amount of breakages increase along with a slower cutting speed.

We have used a 1mm dia ball end cutter to clean out edges on a 3D MDF mould, but it's a bit slow.
